I had never taken part in the Tour de Krants, but it is much spoken about among the KZN mountain biking community.
There were all the big names there that weren't currently overseas.
A long warm up left me far back in the starting line. The first descent was one which i will remember as being my most risky as i was weaving through riders going at about 55km/h as i didn't want to lose to much time on the leaders. I ended up reaching the group fighting for 4th overall. I was doing majority of the work so I attacked and did so successfully riding by myself for the rest of the race. The singletrack was a bit of a let down but the views did more than make up for it. The views were beautiful, it's no wonder hundreds of riders keep coming back year after year.
I managed to pull of a 4th overall and second junior which i was pleased with, still lots of work to be done but I am still new at this sport and am slowly learning that everything pays off.
